Elizabeth On E!’s The Daily

Part of “Old Info And News”

Video

Elizabeth Mitchell made a brief appearance on E!’s The Daily 10 last week to plug Lost. A video clip of the interview is available after the jump. Mitchell discusses the alleged “Lost curse,” the controversy surrounding Matthew Fox’s upcoming speech at Columbia, and does a humorous 15-second pitch for the show. The newest Lost episode, “The Man From Tallahassee,” airs this Wednesday at 10pm ET. Enjoy the video!

Lost actress Elizabeth Mitchell dished on the Daily 10 recently about, well, Lost–and why those crazy Columbia kids would have a problem with her buddy Matt speaking at Class Day. Ha ha ha.

Interviewer: They were unhappy that he was picked to speak on class day. Do you think perhaps that it was his advocacy of skinny dipping that might have pushed them over the edge?

Mitchell: Ha! For college students, to not skinny dip? I think it was probably alright there. I think that he was probably fine there. I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t want him, intelligent, well spoken, sexy.

Interviewer: Very nice guy. I think he’s a good-looking guy myself.

Mitchell: There you go, he crosses.

Brilliant Marh 2007 Elizabeth Mitchell.jpgLost and Found
Story by Lance Avery Morgan

Imagine this: you live in Hawaii, you are the star of perhaps the biggest television adventure hit in a decade and you are stunning, sound like a dream? Not if you’re Elizabeth Mitchell, the Dallas-bred star of ABC’s Lost. We had a chance to catch up by phone after she’d finished s particularly gruelling action scene in the jungle, so her adrenaline was running high and she was ready to let loose, here, in an exclusive to Brilliant, we talk about her career, her co-stars, and getting dirty in paradise.

We love our Texans who make it big in Hollywood. Was there something about your Dallas upbringing that drove you to succeed?
My lovely parents, who still live in Texas, absolutely taught me my work ethic. Texas was a great place to grow up with such smart, strong people. My sense of individuality and confidence are from Texas.

Honolulu Theatre for Youth – Fan Reports

Part of “Old Info And News”

meeting with fans elizabeth mitchell (4).jpg

“Jen with Elizabeth Mitchell (“Juliet”) and Elizabeth Mitchell’s son (who co-signed several autographs).”

Jen and I had a rare night out yesterday to attend a benefit reading for the Honolulu Theatre for Youth featuring several cast members from ABC’s filmed-in-Hawaii series “LOST“:
Matthew Fox (Jack), Terry O’Quinn (Locke), Jorge Garcia (Hurley), Daniel Dae Kim (Jin), Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond), Michael Emerson (Ben) and Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet).

I dare say it was the highlight of my year so far.

It was a once-in-a-lifetime event, mixing the stage, primetime television, and a great cause. The reading was organized by Annie Wood — accomplished children’s theatre director, HTY board member, and Cusick’s wife. She’d directed a play for HTY in 2005 when Cusick signed on for a handful of “LOST” episodes. When they found themselves back in Hawaii for a longer term, she threw herself into the local arts community with gusto.

And the actors similarly let loose last night on the stage. Sometimes flawless, sometimes halting and awkward, it was all real. There were no props, there was no pretense, just a bunch of actors and friends having fun together… ably assisted by several HTY players, of course.

Jorge Garcia and Elizabeth Mitchell opened the evening with a reading from an adaptation of “The Little Mermaid” that Wood had brought with her from London. Mitchell sparkled as the wide-eyed mermaid yearning to discover the world above (even as her young son stomped and squealed backstage), and Garcia unsuprisingly charmed everyone as her clumsy, mooning admirer.

LOST Stars Perform For Charity

Part of “Old Info And News”

Honolulu_theatre_for_youth_elizabeth_mitchell.jpg LOST’s headliners stepped up to the plate to help the Honolulu Theatre for Youth raise money by sitting in for selected readings from plays in the theaters upcoming season. Honolulu Theatre for Youth (HTY) is Hawaii’s only professional nonprofit theatre. Founded in 1955, HTY produces theatre and drama education programs that make a difference in the lives of young people, families, and educators in the state of Hawaii.

Among the cast members lending their talents to the theaters fund raising efforts are LOST stars Matthew Fox (Jack) , Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet), Michael Emerson (Ben Linus), Daniel Dae Kim (Jin), Jorge Garcia (Hurley), Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond), Terry O’Quinn (John Locke), and others.  The stars read from the plays “Ferdinand the Bull,” “Maui vs. Hercules,” “Obake Tales”,  “Rap’s Hawaii”, and other indigenously themed works.  Visitors to the event will pay between $100 and $300 for tickets.

LOST has been a boon for the Hawaiian economy since the production touched down there three years ago.  Not the first production to be filmed in Hawaii, LOST none the less reawakened the sluggish film industry in the state that previously played host to productions such as ’50 first dates’, and ‘Pearl Harbor’.

Besides taking part in charity events such as this, the LOST crew has participated in other charity events including hosting ‘Make a Wish Foundation’ clients which gives terminally ill children the chance to meet their heroes.

In celebration of the enormous success that the series has received, Mayor Mufi Hannemann issued a mayoral proclamation dedicating Sept. 14 “ ‘Lost’ in Honolulu Day.”  For the last two seasons, LOST has celebrated by holding a free screening of the season premiere at the ‘Sunset on the beach’ festival, including autograph sessions with the cast and crew.  LOST concludes its season three shooting in May, 2007.
