|| PLOT || The series started on a grabber of the premise. An elderly lawyer (and former ethics professor) named Daniel Barrington stands on a window ledge of the huge old office. The audience watches in horror as he plunges to the ground. But did he jump? Was he pushed? Why did it happen?
It turns out that Barrington was the senior partner of the firm of Lyons, LaCrosse and Levine. In an emergency meeting, the lawyers feel they need to find a new managing partner for the firm. They choose Jack Turner (Rob Lowe), the estranged son of a Senator (Rip Torn). Turner runs the firm’s pro-bono division and has a reputation for scruples. He would make a good face man. Turner resists the idea, but finally gives in when the firm threatens to close down the law clinic. That would not only put Turner’s friend and co-worker George Riley (Matt Craven) out of work, but it would also take away the opportunity for the poor to get legal representation. In return for a promise of continued pro-bono work, Turner agrees to become managing partner of the firm.
Not everyone is thrilled with the idea, though. Grant Rashton (Kyle Chandler) is a corrupt partner who felt he should get the job. With his assistant (Frances Fisher), he plots to find dirt on Turner. He forces his mistress Ariel Saxon (Elizabeth Mitchell), a recovering alcoholic associate, to spy on Turner. Ariel feels horrible about having to find dirt on her old friend Turner, and soon is trying to find information to discredit Rashton. A paralegal with a crush on her (David Krumholtz) tries to keep Ariel from falling back off the wagon.
Standing watch over Lyons, LaCrosse and Levine is Terrance Christianson. He is a powerful attorney who is ruthless in protecting his practice and his clients. Christianson will do anything, including possibly unscrupulous things, for the firm. But you can tell that in many ways he is a righteous man, who truly believes in the long run he is doing more good than bad.

|| INFOS || The Lyon’s Den is a 2003 television series set in Washington, D.C. The legal drama starred Rob Lowe as a lawyer called Jack Turner, newly appointed as partner of a long-established law firm that, as the plot revealed, harbored some dark secrets. Much of the plot centred around the firm’s internal politics, and on Turner’s attempts to uncover information on some of the firm’s conspiracies, all the while acting as the defense for some of the firm’s higher-profile clients in a different case each episode.

The series premiered on the American television network NBC on September 28, 2003, but although thirteen episodes were ordered and produced, only six aired before NBC cancelled the show due to poor ratings. When five bought the UK terrestrial TV rights to the series in 2004, it aired all thirteen episodes.

Jack and Ariel go to New York to represent a famous, ambitious and sexually ambiguous fashion executive who is accused of sexual harassment by a former worker – but Jack is pressured by the clothing firm’s board to arrange for a settlement. Back in Washington, D.C., Grant grows jealous of Ariel teaming with Jack, while she ponders the threat of their past intimate e-mails being retrieved and exposed. Elsewhere, Riley feels responsible when he blows off a desperate former classmate whose descent into substance abuse was triggered by an experimental drug.

1×04 Hubris

Jack is somewhat confused when an old friend claims to be guilty of securities fraud as charged, and his wealthy in-laws obstruct his defense. Meanwhile, Grant Rashton represents the city in a suit against a gun manufacturer, George Riley is feeling overworked at the clinic, and Detective Traub is running out of excuses to keep Jack’s mentor’s death from being declared a suicide, unless he can find the missing security log from the night in question.

1×05 Trick or Treat

A serial killer on death row taunts Jack by claiming to know who was with Barrington the night he died. When a judge forces Riley to take on the defense of a young man, he considers accepting a plea bargain so that he will be home in time to take his children trick-or-treating. And Rashton is troubled by a photo Ariel stole from Jack’s desk.

Jack’s client is a FBI agent accused of leaking information to a foreign government. The case turns out to be harder than expected when Jack finds out that his ex-fiancé is the prosecutor.

After refusing to take his medicines, a schizophrenic IT genius is sued by his own company.

1×08 Separation Anxiety

Jack receives a disturbing call from Detective Nick Traub stating he knows who the killer of Barrington is, but when Jack goes to meet him he finds the officer with a bullet in his head. Meanwhile Grant is having trouble with a client. George searches for a new job when it’s decided to close the clinic. George also confronts Jack about his involvement in Zerotech. Eventually Jack is edited for his dealings with Zerotech, which he claims are totally untrue. After Jacks fall from grace Grant is appointed Managing Partner.
