2008 Columbia Daily Tribune Interview

elizabeth_mitchell_unknown_photoshoot2.jpgWe found this wonderful interview from 2008 which wasn’t in the archive. The way Liz talks about her work is just simply beautiful, her passion is so inspiring! <3 Oh the interview is mostly about Lost but also about her studies at Stephens College.

The title is “Stephens College graduate Elizabeth Mitchell has taken one of TV’s juiciest roles on ‘Lost’ and run with it, setting the sky as the limit”.
Love it!

EM: I did more working than I did anything else. I was very concentrated, basically. I just very much wanted to be on stage, and that’s kind of what I did when I was there, but I also had a really good time.

I loved the Macklanburg Playhouse. I loved our theater at Stephens.

What a great place to go to school because it was so safe. There you are, and you’re basically surrounded by a bunch of other kids your age, and you can get wild, but not really. Come on, now. It was just a great place to be a dumb kid.

House MD | Episode With Elizabeth On Bluray

HOUSE Elizabeth Mitchell.jpgUniversal Pictures released House MD on bluray in UK, Germany and France. Elizabeth is a guest star in 1×05. The version they’re selling in UK and France are region free so they work everywhere, but while in France and in Germany (both with audio in English) you can buy just the season with Elizabeth, if you want the English version they only sell all the 8 seasons together.

Both Ste and I bought the German version. On Amazon they say it’s region B, but on the back cover there’s no info about it, so it’s probably region free as well.

You can buy House MD Season 1 on bluray at these links: UK | France | Germany

CW Seed Gets V

We get asked often where to watch V. Beside both seasons being available on bluray/dvd and in streaming on Amazon and play.google, now season 1 is available in streaming on CW Seed.  This show is amazing and Erica Evans is one of the best characters Elizabeth has ever played, so seriously, if you have never watched this show, you should! <3

This is the CW seed’s promo:

Dead Of Summer Canceled

http://elizabeth-mitchell.org/skin2015/dead_of_summer.jpgSometimes it would be better to cancel something else… point intended… Freeform has canceled Dead of Summer. We really hope they release this show on bluray/dvd soon.

And by the way… we still believe in Charlie Roan.

UPDATE: We thought only Liz wasn’t involved in season 2, but TV LINE says “none of the original cast was expected back.”

Dead of Summer won’t live to see another season.

Freeform has cancelled the horror-drama after its 10-episode freshman run, which averaged fewer than 500,000 weekly viewers and a 0.2 demo rating — losing well more than half of its Tuesday lead-in (Pretty Little Liars Season 7 averaged 1.2 mil and a 0.6).

The cabler’s other summer launch, Guilt, was similarly cancelled last month after putting up even lower numbers on Monday nights.

Created by Once Upon a Time‘s Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz and set at a summer camp in the 1980s, the Season 2 plan for Dead of Summer was to visit camp owner Deb’s (Elizabeth Mitchell) experiences as a Stillwater counselor in the 1970s, though none of the original cast was expected back.

Wayne Kramer (Running Scared’s Director) About Liz

emfc_runningscared_0000000001612.jpgThis is an interview Wayne Kramer (Running Scared‘s director) did yesterday in which he said very nice things about Elizabeth. 😀

Bruce Altman and Elizabeth Mitchell as Dez and Edele were also cast fairly late in the process. The initial idea was to re-team Kyle MacLachlan and Laura Dern from Blue Velvet and have them play Dez and Edele. Kyle was open to it, but Laura wasn’t, so Kyle didn’t want to do it without her.

I still think it would have been a fun approach, but I couldn’t be happier with what Bruce and Elizabeth brought to these fucked-up characters.

I have such enormous respect for both of them taking on the roles, because nobody—and I mean nobody—in Hollywood wants to play pedophiles. They were both amazing and creepy and very thoughtful in their approach.

Elizabeth told me that she wanted to play Edele by never actually touching any of the children on-screen (which was actually creepier) and I was okay with that.

I told them they were essentially playing alien beings inside human bodies and they should appear stiff and awkward as if they were being controlled by these aliens from inside.

Elizabeth even had little plastic surgery scars applied to the back of her ears (which you can’t see on-screen), because she felt that Edele had had a facelift, which would also account for the stiffness of her facial movements. Bruce had never been squibbed before and was having anxiety over being shot on-screen. When he cries out, that is real panic on his part from having the squibs explode.

They were both a pleasure to work with and I’ll always be grateful for their courage as actors in taking on the roles.

After the “read more button” you can read the part about the scene with Edele.
