Emmy | Could There Be a Sawyer-Juliet Lost Reunion on V?

elizabeth mitchell

Elizabeth Mitchell is having an amazing year, including an Emmy nomination for her appearance in the Lost finale and a series pickup for her sci-fi drama V. So, what could possibly make her life even sweeter?

Well, how about a reunion with Lost’s Josh Holloway on the set of V? Could it really happen? Here’s what we can tell you after talking to Elizabeth at the Creative Arts Emmys ceremony on Saturday.

Mitchell, who picked up a nomination for her appearance in “The End” episode of Lost (but who ultimately lost to Ann-Margret for her guest role on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit), says getting the nod was just the icing on the cake of her Lost run. She told us, “I’m thrilled. It’s a nice way to end. Especially after being killed off and then brought back. I don’t really understand. I feel like it’s kind of a movie. I’ll wake up and be like, ‘Oh, that was a good one. Who would’ve thought of that?’ ”

As for the reunion itself, “I came back and got to be in love with one of the hunkiest guys going.” Whoo. Nothing to complain about right? “And I never will.”

So could there be an onscreen reunion with Lost lover Josh Holloway on Mitchell’s new series V? I asked the erstwhile Juliet if she would be interesting in getting Sawyer in a few scenes with V’s Erica Evans, and she replied, “I need that, right? I agree. Wouldn’t that be wonderful? [But] c’mon, he’s a movie star. He needs to go be a movie star. He’s so delightful.” OK, yes, definitely, on the “Josh Holloway needs to be a movie star” thing, but couldn’t he make one little pit stop on another ABC series before heading off to the big screen forever?!

Interested in V even if it doesn’t have Holloway in the cast? Good, because Mitchell tells us, “It comes back in November, and we just started filming. And it’s so much better. I feel like [season one] set the groundwork and then it’s off and running, which I needed it to be. It’s more fun for me. [Erica]‘s far more intense.”

Are you looking forward to the new season of V, or are you still too attached to Lost to move on with another series?

Great Review about Juliet & Sawyer

James “Sawyer” Ford and Juliet Burke: Lost

Because Lost contained a sprawling ensemble cast, quite a few of the countless hookups on that crazy island could qualify for this list (so close, Sun and Jin, so close!).

What made Sawyer and Juliet so captivating was the combination of the almost complete lack of build up and the unprecedented amount of intensity and emotion they exuded in only a few episodes.

Prior to season 5, their scenes together were sparse and contained very little direct interaction. There was no indication that they would even strike up a friendship, let alone walk into the bright light of the afterlife together. Case in point, the first time they met, she pulled a taser on him and stuck him in a polar bear cage. Either Juliet ran out of pick-up lines or their romance was a delightful spur of the moment decision for the writers.

The late blooming relationship created a refreshing dynamic, where there was little room for awkward, corny flirtations but still expressions of bonding and a growing connection based on shared experience and strikingly similar personal motivations.

Even if viewers weren’t taken with the couple, Sawyer’s individual transformation was enough of a development to garner some fascination.

After two seasons of deliciously riveting and damaged characters acting as pawns in Jack and Kate’s tiring game of jealousy and denial, it was such a relief to see Sawyer and Juliet find happiness in each other instead.

These five relationships hardly cover the vast terrain of television romance. They are simply the five that stood out to me the most prominently.

Josh Holloway about Elizabeth

You had one of last season’s most powerful scenes, when Sawyer failed to save Juliet (played by Elizabeth Mitchell).

That was tough. As an actor, you hope to get scenes like that, but you also dread it. How am I going to pull that off? It’s a film set. You have 120 people talking and joking, I’m on a pulley system, a guy’s holding on to my pants and a guy’s down in the camera wisecracking. It’s very distracting. It takes a lot to make it all go away. But when you have an actress like Elizabeth Mitchell looking in your eyes, it’s like, okay, BAM, and everything else goes away. It was heartwrenching but fulfilling.

Emmy Prediction

Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series

Mary Kay place as Adaleen Grant (Big Love • the Might And the Strong • HBO), Sissy Spacek as Marilyn Densham (Big Love • End of Days • HBO), Shirley Jones as Lola Zellman (The Cleaner • Does Everybody Have a Drink? • A&E), Lily Tomlin as Marilyn Tobin (Damages • Your Secrets Are Safe • FX Networks), Ann-Margret as Rita Wills (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit • Bedtime • NBC), Elizabeth Mitchell as Juliet Burke (Lost • the End • ABC)

I don’t watch The Cleaner or Damages, but of those shows, I have heard good things about Lily Tomlin’s performance and exactly squat about Shirley Jones’. For what it’s worth. Frankly, I don’t know that anyone who guests on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit should be eligible for an Emmy, just out of principle. Mary Kay place is consistently wonderful on Big Love and should probably be in the Supporting Actress category, seeing as she’s in most episodes and has been since the beginning of the series, but apparently the Academy just makes these rules up as they go along. Sissy Spacek was much more in the Guest Actress mold, and did a fabulous job of it, as the hungry vicious political operative out to control/destroy Bill. all of that said, Elizabeth Mitchell for the win because she made me cry so hard when she touched Sawyer’s hand.

Unfounded prediction: Elizabeth Mitchell
