LOST | Nobody Is Over Juliet’s Death

juliet the incident lost hq (18).jpgWe found this nice article about Juliet for the 10th anniversary of her death which still hurts and it will keep doing that forever. It was the most unacceptable death of the show. She deserved better, more than anyone else and even if we loved the finale of the series, we think that Juliet deserved at least a closure with Ben and mostly a scene with her sister. Lost failed in that.

We pasted here the parts of the article more about Elizabeth’s performance. Some “jury” also failed in giving her the recognition she deserved, because yes, the fact that Liz never won an Emmy for her mind-blowing performance as Juliet is a crime against humanity.

I’m Still Not Over the Day Lost Killed Juliet
We waited years for Lost to give us “The Incident” – only for it to kill off one of its best characters.
On the tenth anniversary of Lost’s Season 5 finale, Chris Feil looks back at the lasting legacy of Elizabeth Mitchell’s Juliet and the night she left us.

[..]To understand the full impact of Juliet’s role in the Incident, of course, we have to talk about her late-breaking romance with Sawyer (Josh Holloway). Here was perhaps the most contentious piece of Juliet’s character trajectory. On paper it made little sense; at best it felt like a cop-out solution to the love quadrangle they shared with the headlining heroes Jack (Matthew Fox) and Kate (Evangeline Lilly). And yet much to our surprise, we believed it (perhaps we can credit that to Mitchell and Holloway’s performances). Lost was characteristically confounding and complicated, but Juliet and Sawyer felt refreshingly relaxed.

[…]The impact of Juliet’s death is a testament to Mitchell’s wildly underrated performance in her three seasons as a main cast member. The actress had the difficult task of playing a woman who herself was playing both sides, of having to suggest ambivalence to the Island’s mysteries after being stuck there for years, of ultimately finding peaceful life on this island that had only brought her pain. While Terry O’Quinn and Michael Emerson were reaping Emmy awards, Mitchell remained unnominated until her guest stint on the finale.

But after all that Juliet had taken the audience through, both the personal and the metaphysical, her emotional end was all the more traumatic. It’s why all these years later, hers is the Lost death that lingers the most.

Lost 5×08 | HQ Stills

We found these stills from Lost 5×08 in a better quality! <3

Ahhhh LaFleur was such a surprising episode. Juliet and Sawyer were such a beautiful couple… Juliet made him a better person and he gave her 3 years of peace and love on an island that was always so cruel to her.

Juliet deserved better and so much more, that’s for sure, but in spite of everything this was a beautiful love story.

We miss seeing something like that with one of Liz’s characters involved… last time was on Revolution… there was also that beautiful and heartbreaking story on Dead Of Summer, but it was really too short.

Lost 3×16 “One Of Us” | AV Club Review

///We noticed that someone at AV Club was rewatching Lost and posted some reviews about the show. We’re going to post here all the parts about Juliet and Elizabeth.///

This is one of our fav episodes (obviously).  This scene with Ben is one of the best of the entire show:

Video

Go at the minute 1.10 of the clip. The power of this scene is indescribable. Elizabeth conveys so many different emotions in this. We love how she goes from being very upset to that high rage and then desperation.

There are so many wonderful scenes in this episodes like the one when Ben make her see Rachel and Julian on the screen….the joy in Juliet’s eyes and then the pain of being there against her will… it is impossible not to feel for her and not to love her…  seriously. Elizabeth is magnificent! We’ve just rewatched them all

We still wish we had another ending for Juliet, we love Lost so much, we loved the finale, but we still think that Juliet deserved better.

Anyway here’s the review of Lost 3×16 “One Of Us”. Oh we wrote a few more comments after the review.

About Liz:

2007 was a year where the Emmys actually revealed the Top 10 in each category, and somehow Elizabeth Mitchell failed to even crack the Top 10 in Supporting Actress, which is just absurd. She’s good throughout the season, but she goes through such a range of emotions here, putting her scene in the mirror in the premiere into dynamic context.

Lost 3×01 “Tale Of Two Cities” | AV Club Review

3x01 A Tale of Two Cities Elizabeth Mitchell (27).jpgWe noticed that someone at AV Club was rewatching Lost and posted some reviews about the show. We’re going to post here all the parts about Juliet and Elizabeth. 😀

  • Whereas the opening to season two left Desmond’s identity largely obscured throughout, we get to “meet” Juliet pretty early here, and her incredibly charming head nods to “Downtown” are an early sign of the character’s warmth.
  • I enjoyed that Sawyer and Juliet’s first meeting involved a taser—I had forgotten that their origins, already complicated by the love rhombus of it all, were so charmingly violent.
  • Also good to get an early glimpse at Juliet’s keen understanding of what makes the men on The Island tick, be it Sawyer, Ben, or Jack. Though I’m not crazy about Jack in this episode, I do think Juliet immediately diagnosing his stubbornness and saying “I know it feels like you’re giving up” is a useful bit of insight.

Sawyer and Juliet, Lost

They not only killed the Jack/Kate/Sawyer/Juliet quadrangle, they obliterated it to the point that we forgot it was ever a thing.

Love love love the description! HAHA! 😀 Totally deserved!

After all these years, we can’t help but staring at this photo from “LaFleur”. BEAUTIFUL!

Lost Revival: ‘No Official Discussions’

Elizabeth_Mitchell_Josh_Holloway_Suliet_Juliet_Sawyer_absolutely.jpgSince they are all making revivals lately (mostly disasters tbh), they cannot miss the chance to ask (again) about a Lost revival. We don’t think it would be the right thing to do, Damon Lindelof is right. We hope ABC won’t ruin the memory of a show like Lost to make more money. The creators were brave enough to decide during the 3rd season that 6 seasons were enough to tell their story.
Even though we still miss the 3 years of Juliet and Sawyer at the Dharma. That would be a cool spin-off to make, obviously only if it’s with Elizabeth and Josh. 😛

Lost Revival: ‘No Official Discussions’ to Resurrect Series, Says ABC Boss

ABC isn’t quite ready to go back to the island… yet.

Alphabet president Channing Dungey tells TVLine that she has no current plans to revive mega-phenom Lost. However, she’s not ruling it out. “We have not had any official discussions about that,” the exec maintains. “It’s something that’s on a list of, ‘Wouldn’t that be great if… ,” but at this point it’s only at that place.’

Speculation about a new Lost series picked up some steam (at least around the TVLine watercooler) over the summer when former co-showrunner Carlton Cuse announced that he was returning to ABC Studios under a new four-year deal that calls for him to develop new projects for broadcast, cable and streaming, either on his own or collaborating with other writers.

Asked if she’s informally spoken to Cuse about resurrecting Lost in some capacity, Dungey responds, “I haven’t had that conversation with him yet.”

Cuse’s onetime partner on Lost, series co-creator and EP Damon Lindelof, recently told TVLine that he is both “curious” and “excited” about the possibility of a new writer creating “their version of Lost” using “the mythology of the island,” adding, “It would be really exciting if there’s another incarnation of Lost, I just won’t have any association with it. Not because I’m too good for it. I just feel like, again, we worked so hard to end our story, that to come back and say, ‘Well, that wasn’t the real ending,’ would be frustrating.”

Damon Lindelof About Juliet & Sawyer and Elizabeth

3x22 Through the Looking Glass Elizabeth Mitchell (4).jpgThis is the part about Juliet&Sawyer and Elizabeth from a 2014 interview with Damon Lindelof:

3. Storyline you didn’t think the fans would love, but they did.
Putting Sawyer and Juliet together. The “LeFleur” episode where we essentially said, we’re not going to give the fans the opportunity to see them flirting with each other and developing feelings over time…we’re just going to stuff it down their faces. We’re going to do a time card so like, they basically travel back in time and then the next time we see them, all within in the span of the same episode, they’ve been living amongst the Dharma initiative for a period of time, and they are now together and they are into each other.

And so it was just sort of like, this is not a build. It’s a law. It has happened. We got excited about that story because we loved Elizabeth Mitchell so much, but as we started talking about it, both Josh [Holloway] and Elizabeth were not happy. They were like, ‘Hey guys, we love you, we trust you, but it ain’t gonna work.’ And Elizabeth was just saying, ‘There is just no chemistry between us, I love Josh as a human being but you have done nothing to build this up. You haven’t laid any of the groundwork.’

And we were like, ‘That’s why we love it so much. It just comes out of nowhere. You just have to totally commit!’ And they were like, ‘We’ll do our best.’  And I just started to have that feeling in my stomach like, this is a real show killer. Like, when you put two beloved characters in an intimate relationship with each other and they don’t have chemistry, you end up making the characters look like fools and you can really piss off the audience. Then we saw the episode, and we said, we think this kind of works! But it could be a complete and utter disaster. And it wasn’t until it aired and the audience was like, ‘OK, we are OK with this, we are going to go down this road. We are now accepting Juliet into this sort of love dynamic that was previously only occupied by Jack, Sawyer and Kate.’
