Lost 3×06 “I Do” | AV Club Review

///We noticed that someone at AV Club was rewatching Lost and posted some reviews about the show. We’re going to post here all the parts about Juliet and Elizabeth.///

EMFC_LOST_3x06_000000000350.jpgWe meet Juliet, but we don’t know anything about her, that early tease in the premiere the most we’ll get in terms of answers regarding the Others and their goal.

The Others have no plans to actually kill any of the people involved, with Danny’s desire for blood a deviation from Ben and Juliet’s plan—the threat of violence is their strongest weapon, creating the circumstances that would lead the trio to take action in ways that serve their larger goals (in this case, Ben’s surgery).

Lost 3×05 “The Cost Of Living” | AV Club Review

this week Jack spends more time with Ben and Juliet, learning more information and taking one step closer to performing the surgery. Now, to be clear, it’s an effective bridge: when Juliet wheels the TV over to Jack’s window and plays her tape channeling Bob Dylan, it’s another memorable scene that shows the way the Others’ flair for the theatrical enlivens the show’s storytelling. You can see what attracted the show to expanding the role they play in the story, and you specifically get a stronger sense of Juliet’s agency in the situation at hand.

Lost 3×04 “Every Man For Himself” | AV Club Review

Note that when Juliet goes to Jack for help with Colleen’s gunshot wound, she reassures him that they did nothing to Sawyer, which in retrospect is more honest than we originally believed it to be. Furthermore, Juliet’s interactions with Jack even previewed the second island, referring to “over here” in describing the Others’ power structure.

Stray observations:

I feel like Juliet admitting she’s a fertility doctor represents the first concrete piece of information we’ve learned about one of the Others, and raises a lot of other questions without necessarily doing any work to connect the dots—at this point, the writers knew fans would do that themselves.

Lost 3×02 “The Glass Ballerina” | AV Club Review

EMFC_LOST_3x02_00412.jpg///We noticed that someone at AV Club was rewatching Lost and posted some reviews about the show. We’re going to post here all the parts about Juliet and Elizabeth.///

Stray observations:

“You never made soup for me”—between this and the book club invite, Ben and Juliet’s past is easily the most fleshed-out bit of foreshadowing—or hindshadowing?—for when we learn more about the Others in the future.

Lost 3×01 “Tale Of Two Cities” | AV Club Review

3x01 A Tale of Two Cities Elizabeth Mitchell (27).jpgWe noticed that someone at AV Club was rewatching Lost and posted some reviews about the show. We’re going to post here all the parts about Juliet and Elizabeth. 😀

  • Whereas the opening to season two left Desmond’s identity largely obscured throughout, we get to “meet” Juliet pretty early here, and her incredibly charming head nods to “Downtown” are an early sign of the character’s warmth.
  • I enjoyed that Sawyer and Juliet’s first meeting involved a taser—I had forgotten that their origins, already complicated by the love rhombus of it all, were so charmingly violent.
  • Also good to get an early glimpse at Juliet’s keen understanding of what makes the men on The Island tick, be it Sawyer, Ben, or Jack. Though I’m not crazy about Jack in this episode, I do think Juliet immediately diagnosing his stubbornness and saying “I know it feels like you’re giving up” is a useful bit of insight.

LOST 5×04 Screencaptures

We added the screencaptures of Lost 5×04 into the gallery.

This episode was probably the one that really made us think that Juliet and Sawyer could actually be a couple. The bond that was built during all the first episodes of season 5 was essential to make you believe in that relationship. We love how they (both actors and writers) actually paved the way toward that direction gradually and steadily. It was perfectly executed!
