Lost’s Elizabeth Mitchell says V remake taps into American paranoia | Interview

Nothing really new, most of the lines are from other interviews she did.

THE REMAKE of 80s TV series V has now landed on Syfy (formerly the Sci-Fi Channel) in the UK.

From 1950s B-movies such as The Blob, through to Will Smith’s Independence Day and Tom Cruise doing battle in War Of The Worlds, interest in alien invasion remains as palpable as ever.

Elizabeth Mitchell lost weight while filming V | Interview

V’s Elizabeth Mitchell has revealed she feels “terrible” because she lost weight while filming the action sci-fi show.

The Lost star plays FBI counter terrorist investigator Erica Evans in the remake of 80s TV show, which involves stunts.

Elizabeth revealed: “I’ve lost weight which makes me feel terrible because I’ve always said that women should look the way they look, but you know, when you’re stick fighting and throwing knives all day, you tend to drop a few pounds. and I run a lot, I’m always on my feet and I’m always beating people up.”

Though she won legions of fans as villainous doctor Juliet Burke in Lost, Elizabeth is enjoying playing a hero.

She said: “I’m a 40-year-old female action hero. I just need to be like Arnie and come from a naked position for fighting and I’ll know I’ve arrived, right?”

The actress also revealed she practises kung-fu with her four-year-old son CJ who, along with her husband, has moved to Vancouver while she films.

She joked: “Four-year-olds can hit, man, I’m covered in bruises. CJ said to me recently, ‘Mummy, I’m going to be an actor,‘ and I said, ‘That’s great’ and he said, ‘But I’m going to be a real actor, not like you, I’m going to do theatre’.”

V launches on Syfy (formally Sci Fi) on April 13 with a double bill. It continues with single episodes on Tuesdays.

Elizabeth Mitchell Makes Triple-Duty Work for Her | Interview

I don’t know if you consider it spoilering, coz’ it doesn’t say anything about the story, but it sounds good and a put a smile on my face! 🙂

Elizabeth Mitchell says her friends are teasing her “that I’m taking all the jobs.”

Actually, it’s just two plum jobs — Dr. Juliet Burke on “Lost” and FBI agent Erica Evans on “V” — that have Mitchell flying high these days. The double-duty work might generate stress for someone else in her shoes, but she’s simply focusing on “the good stuff. They put me on a plane and pick me up. It’s quite a luxury, compared with taking the subway and having to walk for eight blocks.”

She notes, “I understand there are elements that make things complicated — having a four-year-old, not getting to see my husband as much as I want. But, I’m not a person to get caught up in stress. When things aren’t perfect, I just figure, ‘We’ll work it out.’”

Elizabeth works it out by taking son CJ with her on her series locations and spending off-time with the youngster and her actor/husband Chris Soldevilla at their get-away home on Bainbridge Island, Washington.

And while for many she may be a newcomer to the television landscape, Elizabeth Mitchell has been making a name for herself on the small and big screens for the last sixteen years, including sharing the spotlight with Tim Allen in The Santa Clause 2 and 3. Lately she’s had her hands full juggling two major sci-fi series and raising a four year-old son. Taking a break from all of that, Mitchell spoke to ADD from her home in Bainbridge Island, Washington, touching upon everything from stardom to motherhood to the future of television viewing.

You have this knack lately for picking these shows that involve multiple storylines. And Lost’s season five finale left you with quite the cliffhanger.
Not dramatic or anything. It happens every day in my life.

Are you going to be able to handle this extra commuting between these two shows?
It hasn’t been a problem so far. I know at some point it might be, but it hasn’t so far.
