V Reunion: Charles Mesure joins Dead of Summer

v 1x10 hearts and souls elizabeth mitchell (6).jpgCharles Mesure joins “Dead of Summer”. It’s not really Liz related but since this is gonna be a V reunion, yeah… it’s a great news!!!

Fans of the short-lived alien drama V will be treated to a mini-reunion later this year: Charles Mesure will join his onetime castmate Elizabeth Mitchell on Freeform’s upcoming Dead of Summer.

Created by Once Upon a Time bosses Adam Horowitz, Eddy Kitsis and Ian Goldberg, the 1980s-set horror-drama takes place at Camp Clearwater, a seemingly idyllic Midwestern summer camp, which quickly turns into “unforgettable scares and evil at every turn.” (TVLine’s Matt Mitovich served as an early consultant on the project.)

Per our sister site Deadline, Mesure will appear as a small-town sheriff who loves his peaceful community and is not pleased when things at the camp go awry. As previously reported, Mitchell will play Deb, Camp Stillwater’s new owner, who has a potentially dark reason for wanting control of the grounds.

Of course, Mesure and Mitchell have also both appeared on Once — he as the pirate Black Beard and she as the Frozen arc’s Snow Queen. They join a Dead of Summer cast that includes Elizabeth Lail (who played Once‘s Princess Anna), Mark Indelicato (Ugly Betty), Zelda Williams (Teen Wolf), Paulina Singer (Gotham) and Ronen Rubinstein (Orange Is the New Black).

Dead of Summer airs this summer

http://elizabeth-mitchell.org/skin2015/dead_of_summer.jpgThere’s not a date yet, but “Dead of Summer” will be on air on Freeform this summer. Richard Hatem (one of the writers) wrote a very interesting post about the show on his facebook page.  😉

And meanwhile, I spend my days in the non-sexy part of Burbank working on “Dead of Summer” (which will be on Freeform sometime — this summer), and I can tell you we are all having a blast. The show was created by Eddy Kitsis & Adam Horowitz & Ian Goldberg, and it has all the fun and heart and flashbacks of “OUAT”with the addition of some truly frightening supernatural overtones. The hours are great, the people I work with are nice and talented (and super funny, that’s important), and the stories are fun to write. It’s all character stuff, thank God. I don’t have to come up with a smart crime every week and then have an even smarter crime-fighter be super smart in outsmarting the smart criminals. I didn’t get into this line of work because I’m a genius. But writing scary sentimental stories about young people filled with hope and love and ghosts? Save me a chair…

New Interview with Elizabeth about Crossing Lines

Personal request to Elizabeth: we want a video or at least a pic of you doing handstands. For science. Thank you! 😛

Translation from a French interview.

Solar, passionate and warm, the American actress has only good memories of this European adventure and of her character.
Elizabeth Mitchell talks about her career. In her company the time went by way too fast.

What made you decide to join this completely revised third season of Crossing Lines?
Donald Sutherland … I have always dreamed to work with him. I was also excited to give life to a new female character as strong as Carine. At the moment, there are beautiful roles for women on tv, more different, more memorable, better roles. It’s funny because when I was 18 years old, at the beginning of my career, I was told that I would have had opportunities till 30 years old … Actually I got roles of great heroines since I was 35 years old.

New Interview about Crossing Lines

Elizabeth_Mitchell_Paris_Feb_4_2016_09.jpgThank you so much Marine for the translation!

Second meeting with Elizabeth Mitchell, after Cannes, I met the actress in Paris.
After watching the first three episodes of Crossing Lines season 3 I talked with her about her character: Inspector Carine Strand.
New season, new start!

Does Crossing Lines Season 3 give the impression of a reboot?
Elizabeth Mitchell: “It may be a shock to the public because it is completely different. You know in USA there are Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU, they have the same skeleton but they are completely different. I watched the first two seasons of Crossing Lines and I think there were some very good actors. But I feel that this is a new start for the show.”

How does it feel to be the newest member on set?
Elizabeth Mitchell: “It’s funny because we all started at the same time except for Donald (Sutherland), Tom (Wlaschiba) and Lara (Rossi). It seemed to start something new with great respect for Tom and Lara and what they did before. It felt like it was a new show and it doesn’t give the impression that people were replaced. I did not feel like stealing a role because there were no problem with previous talents. It’s simply a new idea. “
