After the suggestion to have her as guest star on Colony next year, Josh said that he would love to work with Elizabeth anytime. It would be really wonderful to see them working together again. <3
Which show would you like to see Liz on, beside Colony obviously? We’d love to see her on Designated Survivor. Every time we see Maggie Q’s role we think Liz would be perfect as Anna. HAHA, but seriously it would be so amazing to see her on that show and on anything working with Josh again.
Talking about tv shows… Hey Liz, thank you for talking to us about Rita. We are on season 2 and it’s freaking amazing!
Thanks so much Kaysi for this!

3. Storyline you didn’t think the fans would love, but they did.
Putting Sawyer and Juliet together. The “LeFleur” episode where we essentially said, we’re not going to give the fans the opportunity to see them flirting with each other and developing feelings over time…we’re just going to stuff it down their faces. We’re going to do a time card so like, they basically travel back in time and then the next time we see them, all within in the span of the same episode, they’ve been living amongst the Dharma initiative for a period of time, and they are now together and they are into each other.
And so it was just sort of like, this is not a build. It’s a law. It has happened. We got excited about that story because we loved Elizabeth Mitchell so much, but as we started talking about it, both Josh [Holloway] and Elizabeth were not happy. They were like, ‘Hey guys, we love you, we trust you, but it ain’t gonna work.’ And Elizabeth was just saying, ‘There is just no chemistry between us, I love Josh as a human being but you have done nothing to build this up. You haven’t laid any of the groundwork.’
And we were like, ‘That’s why we love it so much. It just comes out of nowhere. You just have to totally commit!’ And they were like, ‘We’ll do our best.’ And I just started to have that feeling in my stomach like, this is a real show killer. Like, when you put two beloved characters in an intimate relationship with each other and they don’t have chemistry, you end up making the characters look like fools and you can really piss off the audience. Then we saw the episode, and we said, we think this kind of works! But it could be a complete and utter disaster. And it wasn’t until it aired and the audience was like, ‘OK, we are OK with this, we are going to go down this road. We are now accepting Juliet into this sort of love dynamic that was previously only occupied by Jack, Sawyer and Kate.’

Bruce Altman and Elizabeth Mitchell as Dez and Edele were also cast fairly late in the process. The initial idea was to re-team Kyle MacLachlan and Laura Dern from Blue Velvet and have them play Dez and Edele. Kyle was open to it, but Laura wasn’t, so Kyle didn’t want to do it without her.
I still think it would have been a fun approach, but I couldn’t be happier with what Bruce and Elizabeth brought to these fucked-up characters.
I have such enormous respect for both of them taking on the roles, because nobody—and I mean nobody—in Hollywood wants to play pedophiles. They were both amazing and creepy and very thoughtful in their approach.
Elizabeth told me that she wanted to play Edele by never actually touching any of the children on-screen (which was actually creepier) and I was okay with that.
I told them they were essentially playing alien beings inside human bodies and they should appear stiff and awkward as if they were being controlled by these aliens from inside.
Elizabeth even had little plastic surgery scars applied to the back of her ears (which you can’t see on-screen), because she felt that Edele had had a facelift, which would also account for the stiffness of her facial movements. Bruce had never been squibbed before and was having anxiety over being shot on-screen. When he cries out, that is real panic on his part from having the squibs explode.
They were both a pleasure to work with and I’ll always be grateful for their courage as actors in taking on the roles.
After the “read more button” you can read the part about the scene with Edele.

Hey everyone, we recently bought Santa Clause 2 OST and in the booklet there is something written by Michael Lembeck (the movie’s director) about Elizabeth and the song of the scene where she dances at the end credits. Read what he said! 😀
The Eddie Money and Ronnie Spector tune, “Everybody Loves Christmas,” was the first song not already pre-written into the movie that we chose. I knew I was gong to do a sequence under the end credits and was looking for something really driving, really fun with lyrics that would inspire Elizabeth Mitchell (Mrs. Claus) to dance. We went through a ton of songs that would work, but when I played our fave five for Elizabeth, she really loved this one. When you see the end of the movie, you’ll know why.
This is a really lovely story that makes that terrific scene even better!
Oh, there is also a pic of Liz in the booklet! 🙂

For sure you remember Dolls Behaving Badly. During an interview from last February, Liz said: “I wish there were progresses. I’ve never got to the point where I really felt like I wanted to do it, but I still have a soft spot in my heart for it.”
Well they have just released an interview with Amber Coney where she mentions Elizabeth and the book. This is what she said:
In addition to auditioning, she [Amber Coney] is also writing a book adaptation for her co-star Elizabeth Mitchell. “She passed a book along to me and was like ‘I’d like to make this, I don’t know’,” she recounts “I’m going to try to write the thing, so once I have a moment I’m going to get back and write that.”
The book is beautiful and it would be great if one day they made the movie and Liz was still very involved. 🙂
