Loving – Episode 3 – Clips With Liz

Hey guys, we uploaded the clips from the 3rd episode of Loving! 😀

Her laugh is just the same… so genuine and contagious.

Note: the little kid, Christopher, is Trucker and Trisha’s son.

Julie Madison (casting director) about Liz:

“She’s a very smart and strong actress. And she’s lovable, which was important, because we wanted the fans to fall in love with her immediately.”

From old interviews with Liz:

Lucky for her, Loving isn’t interested in exploiting her – neither is soon-to-depart co-star Robert Tyler (Trucker), who has not renewed his contract and is set to leave the show at the end of January. “He is just the sweetest guy,” she enthuses. “My first day, Robert and I had all these kissing scenes and he kept saying, “I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry.’ He made it very easy.”

“Soap work did take some getting used to, though. “On the set, there’s no applause, there’s not that feeling you get from a live audience.” says the theater-trained actress. “I was used to having that. [Without it], you really don’t know how you did. There was a scene I thought I’d bombed on, and the director spliced in things that made it work. I watched it later and thought, ‘Thank you.’”

Replacements

Two new faces, two old roles: Elizabeth Mitchell has become Loving’s new Dinah Lee #2 and Wendee Pratt has given One Life To Live’s Andy a complete transformation. Can replacing an old favourite be hard for a new actress? Read on!

Elizabeth Mitchell portrays Dinah Lee Mayberry Alden on Loving.

For some viewers who weren’t aware that Jessica Collins (Dinah Lee) was leaving the show, it was undoubtedly a shock when they tuned in one day and found a complete “stranger” in her hospital bed! The new Dinah Lee, Elizabeth Mitchell, acknowledges how unnerving this kind of “switcheroo” can be for a fan. “It’s like your sister all of a sudden becomes somebody else!” she says. “All of a sudden she’s got dark hair! I watch One Life To Live. And I remember every time someone new would come on, we’d be like, ‘Oh, look at her! Oh my gosh!’ And what’s so strange is that all the other characters react to her as if nothing changed.”

Which means, in order for the viewers to feel comfortable with the change, there’s a lot of “water under the bridge” that Mitchell has to absorb. Which can be a challenge in itself. “It’s hard because (Dinah Lee and Trucker) have had such a relationship… and then all of a sudden here I am,” explains Mitchell, “I walk onto the set and we’ve been friends forever, and now we’re terribly in love and I just lost the baby…”

But Mitchell gives her co-star Robert Tyler (Trucker) a lot of credit for making this potentially awkward situation extremely easy on her. She relates, “When I first came on, he said ‘I’m sorry that you have to just throw yourself into this.’ He couldn’t have been sweeter and more sensitive about it.” Since they get along so well in real life, Mitchell explains that she was able to go into her scenes, “as if that feeling of closeness (between Dinah Lee and Trucker) was already there. Robert made the transition a lot easier.”

Although Mitchell admits that stepping into someone else’s shoes can be intimidating (especially when the someone is as popular as her predecessor), she is ready to make the role her own… and asks that you give her a chance. “I went to a wedding yesterday and I talked to a lot of people who had watched the show forever,” the Texans native says, “I got all kinds of different reactions… but what I heard a lot was, ‘Well you’re different, but we enjoy watching you too.”

This character is very sweet, and she plays her beautifully. Maybe I’m just not objective but I don’t understand why they fired her.

there are various rumors about that.

Some people said fans loved the old actress so much and they could not accept another actress. We don’t like at all the old actress.

We think there also the fact that people loved Trisha (Trucker’s wife) more and fans didn’t like the fact that the writers paired Dinah Lee with Trucker.

With these things against her, we don’t think it was easy for Liz to be accepted by everyone… but we really don’t see how it’s possible not to love her. Her character is sweet and a very good person. And she plays her perfectly.

Liz said that she tried to give suggestions about the character and the writers didn’t want any.

The actor who plays Trucker decided to leave the show on February 1995. Sombody said they got rid of Liz too. She stayed till May.

We think it’s very plausible… instead of saying they don’t know what to write for her character, they told her she wasn’t good enough. Writers never admint they failed and are wrong.

They got what they deserved tho… the show was cancelled in November 1995. 😀

It makes sense. Very difficult indeed to take over a role played by a loved actress. I guess fans instinctively blame it on the new comer. It must be very hard to deal with and not take it personally.

Damn I need some sleep, I am getting worried over something that happenened more than 20 years ago now, thinking “I hope she’s ok” :’D. Anyway, let’s hope people won’t get too upset when they learn about Mickael Jackson’s death. ;D #SleepdepravedMartyMcFly
