Loving – Episode 2 – Clips With Liz

Are you ready for the second episode of Loving?

We uploaded the 3 clips with Elizabeth into the video archive. 🙂 Enjoy!

Isn’t she amazing?! Our hearts really go out when she tries to talk but she cannot speak properly.

This is a review from Soap Opera Weekly (November 8,1994)

It took all of two episodes for Elizabeth Mitchell to impress as the new Dinah Lee. Her lovely natural aura is quite special.

Funny fact from old interviews:

Also watching, in all likelihood was Mitchell’s family. Mom and Dad are real estate and tax attorneys with their own firm about five blocks from their house in Dallas; sisters Kristie, 17 and Kate, 13 are still in school. But it isn’t likely that anyone’s going to let success go to Mitchell’s head: Kristie actually gets a big kick out of mimicking the actress’s first day, when Dinah Lee was in the hospital and couldn’t speak properly. “She and her friends say, ‘Hey Liz! Look at our imitation of you in your first scene. Then they go ‘I…I…I…’ A whole group of 17-year-old girls doing that. So.” she laughs, “I’m not sacred by any means.”

THE WORK ETHIC: “The idea of working is so lovely to me. It was so exciting to know that I got this part, because acting is so exciting to me. It’s a thrill, otherwise I wouldn’t do it. Not to be hokey, but I think life is definitely worth living, whether you’re working or not. For an actor, the character in the thing… it doesn’t matter what medium you’re in, as long as you have something to do.”

Meet Loving‘s new Dinah Lee

After a whirlwind casting search, Loving execs have chosen Elizabeth Mitchell to replace Jessica Collins as Dinah Lee Mayberry Alden. Mitchell started taping on August 12;  she’ll start airing September 9.

Although the Texan raised actress is new today-time, she wasn’t nervous during her audition. “I tested with Robert Tyler [Trucker] and he couldn’t have made things easier. We were kind of on the same wavelength,” Mitchell recalls. Also at the screen test was Jessica Collins. Was that awkward? “Oh, not at all,” Mitchell laughs, “I can’t tell you how sweet she was.”

It’s been a good month for Mitchell, who learned that she had the job shortly after her boyfriend, David Lee Smith was cast as Luna’s physical therapist, Brent Sutton, on One Life To Live. “We found out within a week of each other,” she laughs. “We’re the ABC kids.”

Mitchell has been learning as much as she can about Dinah Lee and so far, she likes what she sees, “I think because Jessica Collins was so popular, the writers wrote an incredible character for her. I have so much material at my disposal, which is wonderful. So although I’m nervous, it’s kind of exciting.”

“There’s a lot of optimism around here,” nods Randolph Mantooth (Alex). “The Aldens are back and we’ve got a great actress playing Dinah Lee. Mark my words – this girl is good.”
